I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 964 of the 19th ult., submitting for the consideration of this Chamber certain documents connected with the renewal of the P.&O. mail contract, also communications on this subject from the Honourable Postmaster General and from Lord Wolverton, the former suggesting a change in the hour of departure of the Mails, the latter explaining the nature of the tenders made by the P.&O.S.N. Co., Messrs Alfred Holt, and the Canadian Pacific.
